DANCE PAINTINGS

Dance Calligraphy came about when Amber began playing back her dances on video and sketching the movement in reel time. The earliest pieces were created at the The Academy Of Fine Arts, merging dance and painting. The Zen-like immediacy was a welcome shift from time-intensive oil paintings. The surprising likeness of her dance moves, encouraged Amber to use this technique in her Kunsthalle Performance recreating the dance on the velvet performance backdrop in fluorescent paint under blacklight.

Later Amber has utilised this technique in more narrative abstract paintings. The first painting featured here is a dance inspired oil painting 2000 x 2000mm, hung in the Atrium of the The Academy and was accompanied with a dance performance, see Golden Ball in the Dance Page.
